Hello Friends, here’s The Truck Saber and today we are going to talk about a topic that much people question to me in my social feed, how to align a truck? The people wants to understand not only the concepts of how to align a truck in a propper way and, in my opinión the alignment begins before we install the sensors, before that we will install the alignment. The first step isn’t align the truck, it’s talk with the driver. “Why do you want to align it?” This is very important because we want to know what kind of trouble we want to resolve, in some occations, the problema it’s not the alignment it can be something else, and we went with the mechanic and the problem remains, obviously our driver will be unsatisfied.
So first of all you have to talk to the operator, what is the problem? The truck is pulling to one side, it is very common for trucks to go to the right, why? Because the roads have an inclination so that when it rains the water goes to one side and does not remain stagnant, do not think that it is a construction defect, it has a lot to do with engineering issues so that the rainwater goes away and above all Further south, for example, the United States where I am located is a little more inclined than there in the north, because in the north they are very inclined when it freezes, because you don’t leave the road.
So the truck pulls, it goes to one side, it goes to the other, I feel like it’s the problem, that’s important. Hey, when he went through a pothole it bothers me a lot, we have to see what kind of problem, hey, it doesn’t bring a constant vibration all the time, that’s another kind of problem and then they say, “no, maybe I just changed the tires, that’s why I want to align it” or “I changed parts”, “what parts did I change?” So you have to take into account those kinds of details because they are important.
So tip number one: Talk to the operator. He brings the symptoms depending on seeing what symptoms he brings, as it is the solution. Not all that align there are many other things. Step number 2: Let’s mechanically review the conditions of the truck. I highly recommend making the tires, why are those tires wearing out? You have to caress them, they are stressed. You have to caress them, give them love. But in that caressing you will feel the type of wear that it brings, it is not the same that it wears it on the edges or that it wears it on one side or inside or in the center, or even. But since they contain saw teeth depending on how those tires are wearing us out, it is the problem that it could have, it must be checked. You have to lift the shaft, you have to check if there is play in the belts, if they have play in bearings. You have to see the spring bushings, you have to see the rear suspension.
A very important topic and many people can criticize me and I don’t care. Many people want to align only the front axle. It is not correct, if you want to correct tire wear or for the truck to go evenly, you have to do all the axles of the truck, not just the front axle, because it is still the same vehicle and one question. When you go and align your car that has two axles, do you just align the front one or do you align everything? Sure lines everything. Why not in a truck? So we have to align all three axes when they are 3 axis.
We review mechanical conditions, we see all the components, is everything in good condition? So if we can align.
The inspection on many occasions is much more important than the alignment as such. Because if the computer can tell you it’s perfectly aligned, but if all the pieces were damaged. You’re making yourself… You’re lying to yourself, okay? Do not be fooled, because, although the computer that prints a report is all “very nice in green and it was super well aligned”, the truth is that, if the pieces in which it is aligned are damaged, then obviously the alignment does not exist. So those are the first two points you have to make.
And step number 3: Now we are going to mount sensors to the computer, we are going to check the truck.
Well, surely you wanted more, but this episode has come this far, but don’t be sad, your friend the Truck Saver does not abandon you, more interviews are coming to entertain us, have fun and learn together, so that your business can earn more money.
