Myth 1: if the steering wheel is straight, it's aligned

A straight steering wheel does not guarantee correct geometry. The truck can be pushing sideways, have axles out of line, or components with excessive play. The operator feels like everything is fine, but the tread is wearing out irregularly.

Myth 2: alignment is only done on the front axle

On semi-trucks, the rear axles also matter. If the thrust angle of the rear axle is not correct, the truck can be 'crab walking,' generating resistance, tire wear, and higher diesel consumption.

• Measure tire pressure and condition.
• Check wear on bushings, tie rod ends, king pins, and steering components.
• Verify axles and thrust angle, not just the steering wheel.

Myth 3: a worn tire gets fixed by aligning
