Frequently Asked Questions
What are symptoms of worn truck motor mounts?▼
Signs include: excessive engine vibration felt in the cab and floor, clunking or thudding under acceleration, the engine visibly rocking when revved, and worsening driveshaft vibration. Worn mounts allow the engine to move too much and can damage the transmission and driveshaft over time.
How do motor mounts affect driveshaft angles?▼
Motor mounts hold the engine and transmission at the designed angle relative to the driveshaft. When mounts collapse, the drivetrain drops and changes the working angle of the U-joints. Angles outside the design range cause vibration and rapid U-joint wear.
How long do motor mounts last on a semi truck?▼
Depending on rubber quality and operating conditions, motor mounts typically last 150,000–300,000 miles. However, frequent hard acceleration, rough terrain, and heavy overloading shorten that. They should be inspected at every major service.
